The Iconic Nike Air Presto Taps a Familiar Arizonan Color Scheme

The birth of the Nike Air Presto sparked a movement in the footwear world. The shoe marked a new era for Nike and footwear lovers with its 2000 release. The Presto's journey, however, was years in the making.

Coined by the legendary Tinker Hatfield, the Presto implemented a "V-Notch" design language that made the shoe's entry point much like a slipper yet still had the same support and comfort as a sneaker.

The Hatfield vision essentially allowed the shoe to grow within the foot and, in turn, created the Presto’s variable “t-shirt sizing” system.

Designer Bob Mervar took Hatfield's "V-Notch" and the early stages of the Presto in creating the icon we've grown to love today. Its versatility, accessibility, and easily adored color blocking have cemented the Presto's importance in sneaker culture and fashion.

Two decades after the world was introduced to the Presto, the model makes its return to reclaim its sneaker glory throne. The latest colorway mirrors the gorgeously breathtaking Arizona sunsets with a gradient pattern that can't be missed.
